Men Charged With Stealing Copper Wiring from Pelion Business
Deputies say the men stole less than $2,000 in copper wiring from South Eastern Construction of the Midlands.
Two Columbia men are facing charges of petit larceny after deputies say they stole copper wiring from a Pelion business.Â
Elton Rama Simpson II, 33, and Timothy Ted Storey, 48, both of Columbia were arrested Wednesday morning after deputies responded to an alarm activation around 1:30 a.m. at South Eastern Construction of the Midlands, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
The owner of South Eastern Construction of the Midlands saw on surveillance video that two men and a red Chevrolet Tahoe were at his business, according to the sheriff's department. He went to the business and confronted the two men, later identified as Simpson and Storey.Â
Pelion Police and Lexington County deputies arrived and found the Tahoe parked next to a storage building at the business with the tailgate open, according to the sheriff's department. They found scrap copper wiring inside the vehicle and on the ground behind it.Â
Simpson and Storey were arrested and were being held at the Lexington County Detention Center Wednesday awaiting bond hearings.
