Officers Seize 52 Marijuana Plants From Woods Near Leesville Home
Deputies arrested a 40-year-old man they say was growing the plants in the woods, according to the sheriff's department.

A Leesville man is facing drug charges after deputies found marijuana plants worth about $52,000 growing in the woods near his home, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.Â
David Ray Brown, 40, is charged with manufacturing marijuana, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies also charged him with illegally possessing a controlled substance after they discovered Brown had 10 Xanax pills with him.Â
Officers with the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET)Â arrived at Brown's home on Charles Town Road Tuesday to investigate a tip about marijuana plants growing in the woods, according to the sheriff's department. They say they saw Brown tending to the plants.Â
Brown was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday. He was released Thursday after posting bail totaling $25,000.Â
The case remains under investigation, Sheriff James Metts said.Â
