Take your Christmas tree to a Lexington County Collection and Recycling Center to dispose of it (westmetronews.com) — Lexington County residents can recycle real Christmas trees and dispose of artificial ones at several local Collection and Recycling Centers, including multiple sites in Lexington and the Edmund Landfill. Just remove all decorations, follow the size limits for clean wood, and check holiday hours or contact Solid Waste Management with any questions before you go.
   

2. Lexington County Coroner identifies victim in fatal vehicle accident on Old Chapin Road (westmetronews.com) — A 78-year-old Lexington woman, Cheryl S. Deichmann, has died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in the 500 block of Old Chapin Road in the Lexington area. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at a hospital, while the other driver was hospitalized with injuries as the Coroner’s Office and Highway Patrol continue investigating.

Midlands feel-good stories highlight resilience and community spirit in 2025 (wistv.com) — A Lexington restaurant on Lake Drive made headlines in 2025 by offering free kids’ meals during the federal government shutdown, feeding dozens of local families within an hour. That act of generosity was one of several uplifting Midlands stories WIS highlighted, alongside inspiring profiles of a pioneering veteran, determined cancer survivor, and beloved community volunteers from Columbia and Irmo.
   

4. Man arrested after pursuit in Lexington County (wach.com) — Lexington County deputies have arrested a man who allegedly fled on foot after a vehicle pursuit, taking him into custody Wednesday on Cromer Road and transporting him to the Lexington County Detention Center. Authorities say he’s accused of having a stolen license plate and have not yet released his name, but promise more details as they become available.
   

5. Flu deaths rising in SC. Is it too late to get a flu shot for this season? What experts say (thestate.com) — Lexington County is among nearly half of South Carolina counties seeing flu cases above the state baseline, with seven flu-related deaths reported statewide so far this season. Health officials stress it’s not too late to get vaccinated, noting shots are widely available and especially important for high‑risk residents across the Midlands.
