Storms Knock Out Power for 1,700 Lexington Homes

The storms have caused flooding and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms knocked out power for more than 1,700 SCE&G customers in Lexington Tuesday afternoon.

The outages are reported in two areas: in neighborhoods off Sunset Boulevard and on streets off U.S. 1, according to the SCE&G storm map.

Power is expected to be restored for the customers in the Sunset Boulevard area around 10 p.m. and for customers in the U.S. 1 area around 9 p.m., according to the map.

Some streets in the Lexington area are also flooded due to the heavy rain that drenched the area Tuesday afternoon. Lexington received four inches of rain, according to WLTX.

There have been reports of flooded roads, especially near downtown Lexington. The National Weather Service in Columbia tweeted a photo of flooding on West Main Street near Wells Fargo.
