Witnesses Help Catch Man Charged in Gaston Home Burglary

The 27-year-old is accused of breaking into a home on Jacob Circle Tuesday, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies arrested a 27-year-old man Tuesday who they say broke into a home on Jacob Circle near Gaston. 

Michael Anthony Sharpe of Gaston is charged with first-degree burglary, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. 

Two people saw Sharpe force open a door on the side of a home on Jacob Circle around 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff's department. One of the witnesses confronted Sharpe, who then ran away from the house. 

The witnesses provided a physical description of Sharpe to deputies, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies later found Sharpe running on Sharpes Hill Road near where it intersects with Hass Lucas Road. 

Deputies detained Sharpe, and the witnesses later identified him as the man who broke into the home on Jacob Circle, according to the sheriff's department. 

Sharpe is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
