Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. A woman was found strangled to death in a hotel room in the Myrtle Beach area last week. Eighteen-year-old Blake William Linkous from Blue Rock, Ohio was arrested in relation to the incident Thursday and charged with murder. According to WECT, "The Horry County Coroner identified the woman as 18-year-old Natalie Martin. She was originally from Roseville, Ohio. Police said “suspicious circumstances were detected” in Martin’s death. Investigators determined Martin was manually strangled." (WECT)
  2. Celebrate summer at Brookgreen Gardens’ after-hours lighted art exhibition, Summer Light. Tickets are on sale now and the exhibit is open through Aug. 26 on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at the botanical gardens in Murrells Inlet. According to the Charleston Post Courier, "The show includes eleven installations made up of thousands of bulbs, [which] illuminate the garden offering guests an opportunity to see the national historic landmark in a new light."   3. A reported accidental shooting in Murrells Inlet has left one dead. Around midnight on Coquina Avenue police responded to a call and found a 27-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to Live 5 News WCSC, "EMS took the woman to a hospital where she died. Deputies determined there is no danger to the public. The coroner’s office has not yet identified the victim."
