Their conversation touched on maintaining state-level relationships and rebalancing attention between downtown revitalization and other neighborhoods, from Grande Dunes to Market Common, that residents feel have been overlooked.

These 5 great white sharks are swimming off the South Carolina coast this winter (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Several tagged great white sharks are spending the winter off the Grand Strand, including waters near Myrtle Beach, but experts say they rarely bother people. Tracking data from Ocearch shows five named sharks cruising from just north of the state line down past Georgetown, offering locals a fascinating, mostly low-risk glimpse at the big predators offshore.
   

3. Horry County football players named to SCFCA All-State teams (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach High football players earned spots on the South Carolina Football Coaches Association All-State and honorable mention lists, joining a strong showing from across Horry County. Loris, Carolina Forest, Conway, Green Sea Floyds, and Myrtle Beach all had standout athletes recognized for their 2025 performances, underscoring the depth of local high school talent.
   

4. ‘Spirit of America's freedom': Liberty Tree in Warbird Park honors American history (wmbfnews.com) — A new Liberty Tree has been dedicated at Myrtle Beach’s Warbird Park, honoring both American Revolutionary history and local veterans. Donated by the Sons of the American Revolution, the elm tree and its nearby sign invite visitors to learn about the original Liberty Tree’s legacy and reflect on their own family connections to the nation’s past.
