📰 News we're reading

1. This Southern State Is The Most Popular Place To Move In America (southernliving.com) — Myrtle Beach is leading the nation in new arrivals, with the highest in‑out migration ratio of any U.S. city and helping make South Carolina the top state to move to in 2025. Driven largely by retirees seeking beaches, mild weather, and affordability, the growth centers on coastal counties like Horry, reshaping the region’s demographics and future.

2. Police investigate assault at Myrtle Beach hotel (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Police are investigating an assault at the Virginian hotel on South Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach that sent a man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One person was detained as officers canvassed nearby businesses, and Myrtle Beach police are asking anyone with information to call their non-emergency line while the investigation remains active.

3. YMCA of Coastal Carolina gets grant to expand affordable childcare access (wpde.com) — Families across the Grand Strand, including Myrtle Beach, could see more affordable, higher-quality childcare thanks to a $50,000 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder grant to the YMCA of Coastal Carolina. The funding will boost financial assistance for early learning programs, support staff training through Bank of America Myrtle Beach, and help fuel plans to expand into five additional areas next year.

4. North holds off South late to win North-South All-Star Game (wpde.com) — High school football fans just saw the state’s top seniors square off in Myrtle Beach, where the North team edged the South 35–27 in the annual North-South All-Star Game. Played under clear coastal skies, the showcase featured big plays from quarterbacks and running backs on both sides, with the North jumping ahead early and hanging on despite a late South rally.

5. Meher Baba (awaken.com) — Myrtle Beach gets a notable mention as the U.S. home of the Meher Spiritual Center, founded here in 1952 by Indian spiritual teacher Meher Baba. The piece mainly traces his life, teachings on love and inner transformation, and global following, but it underscores that his work left a lasting spiritual footprint right in Myrtle Beach.
