(postandcourier.com) — Myrtle Beach International Airport’s only runway is wearing out fast, and officials are launching a $180 million, multi‑year reconstruction that keeps flights operating by first building a temporary runway. Work is set to start in February, alongside recent terminal expansions and future TSA upgrades, as the rapidly growing airport plans for millions of passengers despite expected Spirit Airlines cutbacks.
   

2. Myrtle Beach prepares for the final stages of The Market Common tree replacement project (wmbfnews.com) — Myrtle Beach will start the final phase of its $1.4 million tree replacement project at The Market Common in January, aiming to fix dangerous, uneven sidewalks. More than 100 overgrown trees will be removed and replaced with urban-friendly varieties, with short-term road closures expected as crews work to finish before the area’s busy season.
   

3. Hospitality industry braces for economic boost from Myrtle Beach Bowl game (wpde.com) — Myrtle Beach hotels, restaurants, and attractions are gearing up for a $3–$5 million economic boost from the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Jan. 19, even without CCU on the field. Tourism leaders say the game helps fill rooms and tables during a typically slow Grand Strand winter, and expect around 10,000 fans to keep the off-season hospitality industry humming.
   

4. Warrants: Suspect tells victim ‘I'm going to kill you' during Myrtle Beach stabbing (wmbfnews.com) — Police have identified and charged a 50-year-old man after a Friday night stabbing at the Virginian on South Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. Officers say the victim’s hand was cut during a knife attack, but he’s expected to recover, while the suspect remains jailed on a $200,000 bond.
   

5. New Interstate Could Soon Connect Michigan To Myrtle Beach (rivergrandrapids.com) — A long-discussed interstate corridor could someday link Michigan directly to Myrtle Beach, creating a more streamlined north–south driving route for snowbirds and vacationers. The proposed I‑73/I‑74/I‑75 Corridor would connect existing highways across several states, but progress has stalled for years and backers are now seeking more political and financial support to revive the plan.
