Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. It's time for the 67th Annual Sun Fun Festival, which will be taking place at Plyler Park May 5 through the 7. Come out and watch the Sun Fun Parade on Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m. The parade travels along Ocean Boulevard from 8th Avenue N. to 16th Avenue N. Click here for a schedule of events. 3. A fire broke out at Bar Harbor located at 100 North Ocean Blvd. on Wednesday morning. It was reportedly contained quickly. According to wpde.com, "Cpt. Jonathan Evans said it appears an A/C unit caught fire, but he is not sure of the extent of damage done to the building." (wpde.com)
  4. Filling the positions for substitute teachers in Horry County Schools has become an increasingly difficult task. Reportedly, the district says that the substitutes are just not showing up! This has caused the Board of Education to look for other solutions to the problem which include increasing substitute teacher pay and providing other incentives. However, these solutions have not been met with success which may cause the BOE to look towards using an outside company to fill the need. (WMBF)
