- It is not a great year for honey production in the area. Local beekeepers such as Patrick Elvis of Blackwater Beekeepers Association are blaming low production on an early spring season which reportedly has forced the bees to go through their stored-up food quicker than usual. (Myhorrynews)
- Typically, homelessness increases in Myrtle Beach in the summertime and this year is no different. According to WMBF, Paul Flood, the board chairperson for Helping Hand said, “We’re helping a lot of people hopefully before they get to that homeless stage, but it seems that the homelessness is outpacing what we’re necessarily able to accomplish." Helping Hand will be holding a food drive from July 24 to Aug. 4. If you are interested in donating you can do so by dropping off food items as well as hygiene items, at their location on Mr. Joe White Avenue. Items are also accepted at Myrtle Waves Water Park or Broadway Grand Prix. (WMBF)
- Believing that learning firsthand where your food comes from is an opportunity that every family should have, the Grand Strand farm named Home Sweet Farm is making it happen. Offering a wide array of pick-your-own options of fruits and vegetables, owners Jimmy and Miracle Rabon have carefully cultivated their land over the past nine years to offer a real farm experience to both locals and visitors alike. (WMBF)
- What do you get when you cross a Jet Ski with a boat? A new water sport experience!
Seakart Adventure SC is reportedly the first of its kind in the United States. According to wpde.com, "It’s located on the Marsh Walk dock in Murrells Inlet. Up to three people can ride in each Seakart, including kids 6 years old and up." Check it out for yourself this summer and have a new adventure. (wpde.com)

Is your home ready for the summer? Val Lyons of CBRE has some great tips to help beat the heat: Reverse ceiling fans to run counterclockwise, schedule your HVAC cleaning, replace damaged screens, check attics for rodents/nests, power wash your deck/home, clean gutters and check irrigation systems/sprinkler heads, and remove dead tree limbs/weeds and plant new flowers. Don't forget to prep your grill for BBQ season! Questions about your home's value? Contact Val today or call 774-259-8937.
