- Myrtle Beach police cited a 73-year-old woman for leaving her dog in a hot car while she was shopping. Police were called to the 1000 block of Oak Forest Lane when a group of people noticed the dog in the car without water. It was 82 degrees out, with a heat index of 91 degrees, when officers rescued the dog. The owner was issued a blue ticket for cruelty to animals, and the dog was taken to the humane society. (WBTW)
- Project Golf named Angel Diaz, a PGA professional and retired Navy veteran, its new director. The Myrtle Beach initiative focused on increasing access to the sport through quality instruction and an emphasis on prospective players who did not comfortable learning at typical courses. - The family of Nicolette Green was awarded $1 million from American Aluminum Accessories through a judge-approved settlement. Both Green and Wendy Newton drowned on September 18, 2018 in a Horry County Sheriff’s Office transport van when the inmate transport module, designed by American Aluminum Accessories, filled with water. Deputies drove the vehicle into flood waters caused by Hurricane Florence, leading to the death of the two women being transported as mental health patients. - For the next four weeks, volunteers with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide an assortment of on-the-go breakfast items for health care workers. The volunteers will visit six regional health care facilities as recognition for the work health care workers have done during the pandemic. (Press Release Desk)
