Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. This week the 2nd annual "Conway Burger Week," competition. Which specialty burger will win? Now through September 24th, downtown restaurants will be serving up outlandish burgers in an effort to win bragging rights for best burger. There are 12 participating restaurants and each one has come up with a unique, specialty burger just for the competition. Some examples include; the Crispy Katsu Burger at Whitakers, the Bikini Bottom Burger at Hop N Wich and the Crooked Oak Tavern - Southern Charm Burger at Crooked Oak Tavern.   2. It may hurt a little more at the pump this week, when filling up your cars as gas prices in Myrtle Beach have increased more than 15 cents. According to WMBF, "The average price in the city is 15.5 cents higher than last week, averaging $3.42 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. The cheapest station priced on Sunday was $3.06 per gallon, while the most expensive was $3.59 per gallon." (WMBF)
  3. Sign up now for the Pfc. Jacob Hancher “High Speed” 5K, which is set to be held Nov. 4 at The Market Common. The race will honor Hancher, who was reportedly killed, by a gun shot, after responding to a domestic disturbance in October 2020. According to WMBF, "The event will be hosted by the Myrtle Beach Police Foundation, Tidal Creek Brewhouse and Black Dog Running Company. Proceeds from the race will go toward a local scholarship in Hancher’s honor." (WMBF)
