Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Asking the community for help, a father is desperate to find the person who hit his son. Reportedly 19-year-old Christian Devlin was riding his bike home from work along Burcale Road near Ryan Lane on Saturday night, in the Forestbrook area, when a truck hit him behind and didn't stop. Devlin is now in a full-body cast, but his father Jason Devlin said he is alert and talking. Jason Devlin is pleading with the community to find the hit-and-run driver. According to WMBF, "Troopers believe the bicyclist was hit by a 2008-2016 Ford F-250, F-350 or F-450. At this time the truck’s color isn’t known, but the truck could have passenger-side mirror damage. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the South Carolina Highway Patrol at 843-661-4705." (WMBF)
- There is an urgent need for blood platelet, Type O blood donors for the Red Cross. If you can help, please schedule an appointment to donate blood by downloading the Red Cross blood donor app, by visiting redcrossblood.org or by calling 800-REDCROSS (800-733-2767). (WBTW)
- It's beach clean-up day this Saturday! Volunteers in Surfside Beach will be combing the beaches as part of South Carolina's largest single-day litter cleanup event. According to WBTW, "Keep Surfside Beach Beautiful will host one of the cleanups from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Third Avenue N. beach access in Surfside Beach as part of the 34th annual S.C. Grand Consortium’s Beach Sweep/River Sweep. According to organizers, volunteers on foot or in boats removed more than 16.5 tons of debris from along more than 210 miles of the state’s beaches, marshes and waterways in 2022." (WBTW)
