- Christian Devlin was riding his bike home from work on Saturday night on Burcale Road in Horry County when he was struck by a truck from behind. The truck fled the scene of the accident. Devlin's father reached out to the community for help in finding the driver of the truck. Reportedly, an arrest has been made in the case. According to wpde.com, "Christian's father is thanking the community for their support." (wpde.com)
- Iceless hockey, that's how it is played in the Grand Strand. Instead of ice skates, the 4- to 17-year-olds who practice weekly at the outdoor skate rink in Market Common put on their roller blades and learn how to make goals. According to WMBF, "Registration for the fall session of the Grand Strand Youth Hockey League is open until midnight on Sept. 16. You can register on their website." (WMBF)
- Increase your knowledge and learn how to provide help if you or someone you know is addicted to opioids. Two opioid-related programs will be held on Sept. 25. They were postponed when Storm Idalia drenched the area. According to WBTW, "Overdose prevention and Narcan training will be available at the free workshop, which is hosted by the city of Myrtle Beach and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The workshop is set for 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25 at DHEC’s Myrtle Beach office. And, Sept. 25 is Horry County Overdose Awareness Day, according to the city. Everyone is also invited to Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m." (WBTW)

From my notebook:
- Myrtle Beach Pelicans: "Pelicans Ballpark — for a fifth straight year — has been named the No. 1 Single-A Ballpark Experience by Stadium Journey! This honor is a clear testament to the nightly effort and passion for the fan experience put in by game day and front office staff. On behalf of the entire organization, we thank you — the fans — for continuing to trust us with your family friendly entertainment each season." (Myrtle Beach Pelicans via Facebook)
- South Carolina Stingrays: "Excited for lots of Luko goal cellys this season." (South Carolina Stingrays via Instagram)
- Myrtle Beach International Airport: "We're delighted to introduce our newest P.E.T.S. (Pups Easing Travel Stress) ambassador, Indy! Indy will soon begin visiting regularly with her mom, Erin. Please join us in welcoming them to our volunteer team!" (Myrtle Beach International Airport via Facebook)
Now you're in the loop and ready to head out the door on this Friday. See you all tomorrow morning for another update!
