  1. A shooting occurred at Patriots Way Apartments just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. As a result, the Myrtle Beach Police Department is letting residents know to expect an increase in police presence in the area. In addition, the MBPD is requesting that anyone with information about the shooting, call the non-emergency line at 843-918-1382 and reference case number 23-009971. (WMBF)
  2. Myrtle Beach's Juneteenth Festival will take place on June 17 at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Charlie's Place located at 1420 Carver St. And, as the day is a citywide holiday, offices will be closed on June 19. According to wpde.com, "Juneteenth celebrates the day some of the last enslaved people received word of their freedom nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation." (wpde.com)
  3. Racing against Mother Nature, crews in Myrtle Beach are working hard to complete sand fencing projects before hurricane season ramps up. Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc on the area, wiping out a large portion of the city’s protective sand dunes. Crews are working to replace the fencing along the beaches to help build the dunes back up. Hopes are that the project will be completed in about three weeks. (WMBF)
  4. The second annual Ignite Women's Conference presented by Tidelands Health will be held on Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel attached to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Elizabeth Smart will be just one of the many presenters at the event. According to wpde.com, "Smart is a child safety activist, the founder of the 'Elizabeth Smart Foundation,' as well as an author. She was abducted at the age of 14 and held captive for nine months before being rescued by police." (wpde.com)
