Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. In an effort to make a better town, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber has partnered with an organization to bring in better tourism. The goal of the city's chamber is to make a 10-year destination stewardship plan with input from the community. Some new ideas that have come from recent community-driven town hall meetings include; adding bike lanes and sidewalks, as well as, more big-name brand stores. (wpde.com)
  2. Reportedly a shooting happened on Carver Street and Vereen Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. No injuries were reported at this time. According to WMBF, Myrtle Beach Police are investigating the incident. (WMBF)
  3. A CyberTipline report led to an arrest of a North Myrtle Beach man. Forty-two-year-old Alex Gomez has been charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. According to WMBF, "Investigators said he distributed files of child sexual abuse material. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. (WMBF)
