  1. It's super hot out there and Grand Strand officials are warning residents to take heed and limit outdoor running activities. According to WBTV, "Running and walking in this heat can be dangerous. Outdoor activity in extreme heat can lead to one of four heat-related illnesses. Heat rash, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. In a Facebook post, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department said signs of heat illness are cramps, rashes, excessive sweating, dizziness, increased heart rate and increased respiration." (WBTW)
  2. A fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the bowling alley area of the Captain's Quarter Resort on S. Ocean Boulevard. The resort evacuated everyone, and fire fighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames. No civilian injuries have been reported, however, according to WMBF, and the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, three firefighters were treated for dehydration. (WMBF)
  3. Save the date for the upcoming Meals on Wheels of Horry County 2nd Annual ‘Gala for Grandparents’. The event is scheduled for Sept. 8. Come out, support a great cause and have a good time. Meals on Wheels nonprofit is an important fixture in the community providing five free meals a week to more than 500 people. According to WBTV, "The gala will raise money for the bigger building. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Barefoot Conference Center. To purchase tickets, click here." (WBTW)
  4. With a mission to aid children with disabilities and offer different and unique approach to therapy, the Myrtle Beach Therapeutic Horseback Riding and Vaulting Club nonprofit organization recently made a move from Tabor City to the Loris so they could offer their services to even more people. However, the farm is in need of some help from the community and is currently looking for donations to help them along. According to WMBF, "Director and instructor, Amy Albertson says the community has helped their organization before, and she hopes they’ll do it again, so they can keep helping kids. For those who would like to help out, you can donate supplies such as water buckets, a saddle pad, or a small electric water heater, at the farm which is located at 3576 Daisy Road. There is also a fundraiser underway and you can CLICK HERE to donate." (WMBF)
