  1. Thanks to a collaboration between the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and the South Carolina Department of Education, all Horry County schools will receive four doses of Narcan starting this week. In fact, every K-12 school in the state is now allowed to have the medication on the ready in the nurse's office in case it is needed. The lifesaving medication can only be administered by nurses and trained staff. (wpde.com)
  2. White Sands Motel was shut down on Monday after the city’s building official reportedly said it was uninhabitable. Several people have been left homeless due to the shutdown. According to WBTW, "The city turned the water off and told tenants they could not live there anymore." (WBTW)
  3. There's a good chance that fossils found in Myrtle Beach recently could be 100,000 years old. According to Live 5 News, "A very low tide revealed the fossilized beach, which is almost as old as Earth’s most recent ice age. An expert in the area said remains like those are often unknowingly found underneath the feet of beachgoers and swimmers. Usually, a thin layer of sand covers them closer to shore." (Live 5 News WCSC)
  4. August at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center means interactions with dinosaurs. Take a step back in history with Jurassic Quest, a popular adventure that will be featuring several life-like animatronic period dinosaurs. The experience will be in town from Aug. 18 through 20. Hours vary for each day. Don't miss this unique event. (wpde.com)
