North Myrtle Beach Police ID Suspect Who Exchanged Gunfire With Police
North Myrtle Beach police are searching for a suspect who fired shots at officers Thursday morning.
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— Residents in the Tanglewood and Ironwood areas near the Barefoot community have been asked to stay inside as North Myrtle Beach police search for a suspect who they said fired at officers.
The suspect, identified as William Joshua Alston, is considered armed and dangerous, police said. He’s described as a 40-year-old man, five-foot-nine-inches, 250 lbs with blonde hair, blue eyes. Police said he shot at officers early Thursday.
He was last seen wearing a black tank top and black athletic-style pants.

People in the Briarcliff RV Resort were asked to shelter in place around 9 a.m., WBTW-TV reported.
