Warrants reveal how Myrtle Beach motel shooting unfolded (wbtw.com) — Myrtle Beach police have arrested three local residents after shots were fired at the South Bay Inn & Suites on South Ocean Boulevard early Tuesday, though no one was hurt. Warrants say one woman shared the intended victim’s identity, another allegedly drove the suspect away, and the accused shooter now faces attempted murder and multiple weapons charges.
   

2. Myrtle Beach to hold groundbreaking for Vietnam Veterans Memorial (wmbfnews.com) — Myrtle Beach is inviting residents to a public groundbreaking for the new Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Warbird Park on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. The ceremony at 150 Farrow Parkway will offer seating, restrooms, warm refreshments, and nearby parking. Most of the memorial, including statues, plaques, and a reflecting pool, should be finished by late spring 2026.
   

3. Gaming lounge in Myrtle Beach area will close at the end of 2025. What they said (myrtlebeachonline.com) — A sensory-friendly gaming lounge in nearby Surfside Beach, run by Myrtle Beach-area nonprofit Beachfront Blessings, will close at the end of 2025 after just seven months in business. Low Tide Gaming, created to give people with autism and sensory sensitivities a welcoming place to play, couldn’t make its business model work, but the nonprofit will keep serving Horry County and hopes to launch another inclusive space.
   

4. Grand Strand grocery shoppers react to SNAP's upcoming sweet treat restriction (wmbfnews.com) — Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand shoppers on SNAP are reacting to South Carolina’s newly approved 2026 ban on buying candy, sodas, and energy drinks with food stamp benefits. While state leaders frame it as a health move, many local recipients say it limits their freedom and will force them to pay out of pocket for occasional treats.
