Holiday bonuses approved for Horry County Schools employees (myhorrynews.com) — Horry County Schools employees, including those working in and around Myrtle Beach, will receive holiday bonuses of $896 for full‑time and $448 for part‑time and positive‑pay staff, totaling $6.48 million. District leaders also highlighted record‑high graduation rates, detailed how many students are choosing alternatives like Discovery School at Myrtle Beach, and discussed plans to tie future bonuses to performance and attendance.
   

2. Myrtle Beach City Council approves annexation for Jewish spiritual center development (wmbfnews.com) — Myrtle Beach City Council has approved annexation for a major expansion of Chabad of Myrtle Beach into a new 29th Avenue Spiritual Center, bringing public improvements and a large worship and housing complex. The multi-phase project will add sidewalks, a signalized crosswalk, security upgrades, and stormwater-related funding, with design work expected by 2026 and construction stretching toward 2035.
   

3. ‘It helps a lot': Free Head Start Center opens for low-income Myrtle Beach families (wmbfnews.com) — Low-income families in Myrtle Beach can now enroll children five and under in a free Head Start program at the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand. The center focuses on school readiness, social-emotional growth, and health and nutrition support, offering a big boost for single parents and others who qualify. Families who think they’re eligible are encouraged to apply.
   

4. Bomb threat at Target turns out to be hoax: MBPD (wpde.com) — Police say a bomb threat called in to the Target on Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach late Tuesday night was a hoax, but officers may remain in the area for a while. The caller claimed bombs were placed around the store and demanded money, yet a thorough search found no explosives. Residents may still notice an increased law enforcement presence nearby.
   

5. K9 Boyka helps keep the peace at Conway Medical Center (myhorrynews.com) — A former Myrtle Beach Police Department dog handler is now partnering with K9 Boyka, Conway Medical Center’s first security dog, to boost safety at the hospital. The 3-year-old Belgian Malinois helps keep staff, patients, and visitors calm and secure while working in the hospital’s often hectic environment. Leaders say the program supports both safety and quality care.
