- Residents and neighbors of Horry Street are furious over the city's request to demolish the The Whittemore Elementary School. Conway's old local elementary school could be reduced to rubble if the request is approved. Neighbors are furious, as they were promised the school would not be demolished after the city purchases the land. (wpde.com)
- According to Todd Helms, the director of new school development at Pinnacle Charter Academies, Grand Stand might soon host its newest school: Atlantic Collegiate Academy. The school boasts dual-enrollment in high school and college classes, as well as an "elite" athletics program. (WBTW)
- The Sun News has learned that former Surfside Beach fire chief, Prentice Williams, retired from his position due to a hostile work environment. His retirement letter to the town council expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the first Black police chief in Horry County, a position to which he was promoted in November. He officially retired on June 1. (Myrtle Beach Sun News)
- Willie Chuck Bellamy was charged with trafficking heroin and crack at the Calypso Inn. Horry County police officers arrested the Longs resident on July 15 for trafficking heroin/fentanyl, in addition to possession with intent to distribute charges for other drugs. (wpde.com)
- Conway police have taken one person into custody after a deadly Sycamore Street shooting. Horry County Coroner’s Office reported that Arsenio Legette of Conway was shot and killed. (WMBF)
- New Directions of Horry County is preparing to help those who may lose their homes when the federal eviction moratorium expires on July 31. The shelter is trying to finish expansion projects that were delayed due to water main issues. These expansion efforts would offer more than 70 new beds and 6 bathrooms. (WBTW)
