- Offering one-on-one help for students in Horry County, the Literary Council is expanding into Georgetown County and is in desperate need of more tutors to help out. - Did you know that there are 767 registered sex offenders in Horry County? Reportedly only 616 are active, which means they are actively monitored, and the sheriff’s office knows where these sex offenders live. That leaves almost 100 offenders who are 'non compliant.' According to WMBF, "Fifty-eight are in jail, but right now 95 sex offenders in the county are listed as non-compliant meaning the sheriff’s office does not know where they live." (WMBF)
