  1. Are you ready for a hurricane? If you would like some pointers on how to be hurricane ready come to the Coastal Carolina University hurricane readiness expo on Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HTC Center on CCU's campus. According to wpde.com, "ABC 15's very own Ed Piotrowski will be there presenting along with Horry County Emergency Management Director Sam Hodge. CCU to host Hurricane Readiness Expo with Ed Piotrowski." It's always better to be prepared! (wpde.com)
  2. Grab the kids and head over to Futrell Park on June 1 for the grand opening ceremony of the Splash Pad, from 1 to 3 p.m. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Hope to see you there! (wpde.com)
  3. It's back! The annual Smoke on the Beach Festival, which was postponed last month due to weather issues, is being held this weekend on May 19 and 20 at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Park. The free event will include live music a barbecue competition, food trucks and vendors of all sorts. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club. (wpde.com)
