- Memorial Day Weekend is coming up quickly and you are invited to be part of the Veterans Victory Walk which will be held on Saturday, May 27 at Market Common. The walk will take place around Grand Park Lake, beginning at 6 a.m. In-person registration begins at 5 a.m. at the site. The team with the best time completed (walking) in 22 miles and the most money raised will get a personalized team plaque. Get your mileage sponsorships from your family or your favorite business. - Congratulations to Angie Crosby who is the winner of the Horry County Schools Support Staff of the Year Award. She is a custodial supervisor at St. James Middle School and was among five finalists for the annual award. According to WBTW, "the other finalists were Jenny Pena, Bookkeeper III, St. James Intermediate School; Mindy Poehmel, ISS Paraprofessional, Waccamaw Elementary School; Patsy Baker, Special Education Paraprofessional, South Conway Elementary School; and Blenda Jenkins, Guidance Secretary, Aynor High School."
