The local American Red Cross provided disaster relief assistance to two families Wednesday. One was a family of 1 adult and 1 child, who were affected by the fire. The other a family of 1 adult and 3 children who were displaced by the apartment fire in Summerville today. The Red Cross provided food and lodging to the families.
On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, 2013, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 904 families and 2,803 individuals affected by disaster.Â
