Coroner: Death Row Inmate Committed Suicide

The Lieber Correctional Institution death row inmate found dead Tuesday morning committed suicide, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.

. At the time of the murder, Justus was serving two life sentences in the deaths of two Oconee County residents.

Justus was found Tuesday morning deceased, covered in blood with a razor blade still in his hand, Nisbet reported Wednesday following an autopsy. 

The coroner released this statement:

Justus died from Hypovolemic Shock due to a Transected Artery (from) an incised wound in the crease at his elbow. He apparently cut himself with the razor blade in the early morning hours of the 21st, prior to being found.
