County Emergency Operations Exercise Slated for Wednesday

Dorchester County will conduct its annual emergency operations center exercise 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday. This year’s exercise will be conducted at the Alternate Emergency Operations Center in St. George County Council Chambers. 

The scenario will involve pre-landfall activities in preparation for a major hurricane which will be projected to make landfall near the Charleston peninsula.  

The primary objective for this exercise is to test the alternate emergency operations center and the staff’s ability to effectively manage information and coordinate resources. Additionally, the center’s management team will be working through a new process to develop an action plan for the next day (operational period).
