No injuries were reported after a van overturned and caught on fire Monday on Interstate 26 near the Aviation exit, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.
Highway Patrol said the catalyst of the wreck was a trailer unhooking from a pickup truck driven by Robert Thomas, 54, of Moncks Corner. When the trailer unhooked while traveling westbound, the safety chains failed and the trailer hit a Toyota SUV, struck a concrete median and traveled across the interstate. The van swerved to miss the trailer, overturned and caught on fire.
The driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own, and no injuries have been reported as result of the incident.Â
