Equine Owner Hurricane Preparedness Workshop Planned

On Wednesday, July 10, 2013 the Dorchester County Emergency Management Department (EMD) in coordination with Charleston and Berkeley County EMD’s and Clemson Livestock-Poultry Health will be hosting an Equine Hurricane Preparedness Workshop.  

Topics during the workshop include:

• Horse owner preparedness and evacuation tips
• Temporary shelter sites
• Requests for resources needed during an event
• Important health issues for horses

EMD hopes to also discover some untapped volunteer resources in the tri-county area for local assistance, if needed, for equine issues in preparedness, response and recovery.

The workshop will be held at the Dorchester County Human Services Building – County Council Chambers located at 500 N. Main Street in Summerville from 6:30PM-8:30PM.
