A Tuesday fire destroyed the Summerville home, according to the Lowcountry Red Cross.
The fire at 1291 Leisure Dr. has displaced an adult and a teenager. The Red Cross provided financial assistance for clothing and food, and gave comfort kits containing personal hygiene items. The Red Cross also provided referrals to partnering agencies.
On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since Jan. 1, 2013, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 1,067 families and 3,285 individuals affected by disaster. The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
