Is It Hot Enough for You? Friday Anniversary of Hottest July on Record

1986 saw the hottest temperatures recorded in July.

It's not quite the hottest July on record in the Lowcountry — not by a long shot.

According to the National Weather Service of Charleston, the hottest July temperature on record at the Charleston airport was July 19, 1986. The temperature at the Charleston airport reached 104 degrees.

It was part of a four-day heat wave of temperatures greater than 100 degrees. It was the longest stretch of high temperatures in the location's recorded history.

Through the weekend, highs are expected in the high 80s with a 30 percent chance of rain in the Charleston area, according to the Weather Channel.
