Ladson Fire Destroys Home, Displaces 2

American Red Cross provides emergency assistance after Friday afternoon blaze.

A Friday afternoon fire has destroyed the home of two people near Lincolnville Road in Ladson, according to the American Red Cross.

The home is at 3384 Fairview Dr., Ladson. Old Fort Fire Department responded to the fire. 

The Red Cross provided emergency assistance for the occupants, providing temporary lodging in a nearby hotel, financial assistance for food and clothing and comfort kits that included basic hygiene items. The Red Cross also provided referrals to partner agencies to assist in long-term recovery efforts.

On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, 2012, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 1,524 families and 4,994 individuals affected by disasters.

The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
