A 9-year-old boy was home alone when a man broke into his residence — prompting the child to hide in the closet and call 911.
At around noon Monday, July 15, in Brandymill, the boy called dispatch and alerted them to a man inside his residence.Â
The boy told police that the subject tried knocking on the front door. When he didn't get a response, the man walked around to the back door. The boy hid in his bedroom closet, where he could hear a subject breaking glass on the back door of the residence.Â
According to the report, the officers on scene praised the boy for calling 911 and giving all the needed information to dispatch.
A brick was found among shattered glass in the living room, and there was damage to the back door leading to the patio. Two laptops and a tablet were stolen in the burglary.Â
