Thousands Without Power, Line Work Closes I-26
SCE&G closed down all lanes on I-26 Friday to remove an overhead power-line

UPDATE: 12:03 p.m.: SCE&G reports via Twitter that all lanes on I-26 have been reopened.
The company is still investigating the cause of the power outages in the Summerville area.
ORIGINAL: More than 3,000 homes and businesses in the Summerville area lost power Friday.

As of 11:45 a.m., only 640 homes were without power.Â
Meanwhile SCE&G work crews closed down all lanes on I-26 to remove an overhead wire, Live5News reported. The line work was expected to last approximately 20 minutes.

SCE&G estimates that all those without power in the Summerville area should see it restored by noon, according to information on its outage map page. The outage area stretches from I-26 all the way to Beech Hill Road.
