Town Sets Limits on Fireworks Celebrations

Violators could receive a $500 fine or 30 days in jail.

Want to set off fireworks in town limits? Not so fast.

Summerville Town Council approved a ban on fireworks Wednesday, the Post and Courier reported.

The ordinance would ban setting off fireworks between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. except on New Year's Eve and July 4. The ordinance also bans shooting fireworks onto a neighbor's or public property. Violators could receive a $500 fine or 30 days in jail.
