Sioux Falls is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Sioux Falls has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • While Sioux Falls is known for its bustling downtown, did you know that it's also home to the largest park in the city, Great Bear Recreation Park? Here, you can ski and snowboard in the winter or go tubing and zip lining in the summer.
  • Sioux Falls is a hub for the arts, with numerous galleries, theaters and museums. In the Washington Pavilion, guests can find a science center, art museum and performing arts theater all under one roof.
  • For history buffs, the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls is a must-see. Built in 1893, the building now serves as a museum and offers a glimpse into the city's past, and admission is free!
  • Did you know that Sioux Falls is home to one of the largest butterfly houses in the country? At the Butterfly House & Aquarium, you can see more than 800 butterflies from all over the world, as well as a variety of fish and other aquatic creatures.
  • Finally, Sioux Falls is home to a number of festivals and events throughout the year, including the Sioux Empire Fair, JazzFest and the Winter Wonderland & Parade of Lights. Check out the city's calendar of events to see what's coming up next!
