North Minnesota Avenue Improvements Project In City Of Sioux Falls

March 14, 2022

Beginning on Monday, March 14, 2022, the outside northbound lane of Minnesota Avenue will be closed from Second Street to Bennett Street. The contractor will be performing work in preparation for the start of the North Minnesota Avenue Improvements Project. Southbound traffic will not be impacted. This work is scheduled to be completed by March 21, 2022.

Beginning on Monday, March 21, 2022, the North Minnesota Avenue Improvements Project will begin. The southbound lanes and center turn lane of Minnesota Avenue will be closed to allow the contractor to reconstruct the street. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the existing northbound lanes. No left turns will be allowed from Minnesota Avenue onto side streets or driveways, and no parking will be allowed along Minnesota Avenue during construction.

Phase 1 of the project is expected to be complete in mid to late summer. The overall project completion date is June of 2023.

Work on this project will include new watermain, new sanitary sewer, storm drainage improvements, concrete pavement, sidewalks, and streetscaping.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and will want to consider alternate routes.
