Alzheimer`s Caregivers Need Support

The Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Act H.R.1474 brings training and support to these caregivers.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association more than half of dementia caregivers report having no experience performing medical or nursing related tasks. In addition, dementia caregivers are twice as likely as other caregivers to report that these tasks are the most difficult and training for these caregiver tasks is not available to them in their community, adding stress to their own health.

With nearly 75% of Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers reporting concerns about maintaining their own health since becoming a caregiver.Yet more than 1 in 3 dementia caregivers say
their health has gotten worse due to their care responsibilities. More than a quarter of dementia caregivers delay their health services.
The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Act (S.56/H.R. 1474} will address this need for training by providing grants to eligible nonprofits, Community Health Centers, Senior Centers, and state agencies in the local community. Further to address inequities 10 percent of these grants would go to those organizations that serve medically underserved communities.

Join me in asking Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia District 14 to support the caregivers and patients of her district by cosponsoring this Bill.
