Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:
- Chattanooga's Amen'd nonprofit is assisting area residents during a national increase in food prices. The organization gave away boxes of food during a distribution at Rhema Alive Church in Avondale. Chattanooga Area Food Bank and Sam's Club donated the distributed food. (WTVC)
- Weekend storms caused hose fires and downed power lines. The Chattanooga Fire Department received multiple calls about downed power lines and flooding in the East Brainerd area. A house fire occurred in the 4000 block of Caine Lane on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Another house fire occurred in the 2200 block of Tristam Boulevard less than 10 minutes later. Thankfully, nobody was injured during the fires. (WDEF News 12)
- Various back-to-school events prepared students for the 2022-2023 school year in Hamilton County. The largest event was the Hamilton County School District Back To School Bash on Saturday morning. The event was held at the First Horizon Pavilion and distributed thousands of backpacks to families that attended. Several organizations supported the back-to-school effort with school supply distributions. (WDEF)
