Here are the top 3 stories in Chattanooga today:
- A 50-year-old man is responsible for backing up traffic along I-24 for several hours on Sunday after, police said, he jumped out the back of a moving ambulance and was then hit by another vehicle. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. as the man was being transported to a Chattanooga hospital. As of Sunday evening, the man was in critical condition. (News Channel 9)
- David Faulkner, a carriage driver with Chattanooga Horse Trams, is being honored for being the city's "most experienced" after holding the job for 25 years. He says that he first got the job offer after angering the company's founder by sneakily feeding a horse peppermints. "I trained for about a month before they finally turned me loose on my own," Faulkner said. "I mean, you have to be [an] animal person to do this job, but it's the people who make it interesting." (Local 3 News)
- The Chattanooga Tourism Company is currently working on a deal that could bring one of the biggest motorsports competitions in the world to the city. World Rally Championship events currently take place in 13 countries around the world and, if a deal is reached, this would be the first in the United States in 35 years. Hosting the event is expected to bring upwards of $34 million worth of economic impact to the region. (WTVC)
