Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:
- A sudden storm yesterday caused flash flooding and road closures in Hamilton County. The National Weather Service reports that between one-and-a-half and three inches of rain hit the region. Click the following link for a full list of road closures and openings. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
- Outdoor Chattanooga is hosting Chattanooga Paddlefest on Aug. 27. The free community paddle event will be on Chattanooga's waterfront between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Rentals will be available through local outfitters for $35. Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard. (Chattanooga Pulse)
- Hamilton County teens returned to school on Wednesday. The 2022-2023 school year is shadowed by school shootings that occurred the previous school year. According to LaDarious Price, Cempa Community Care's community outreach administrator, it is vital to show the students that the community supports their decision to be educated.
