Frontier Health earns crisis helpline accreditation (timesnews.net) — Frontier Health’s Turning Point facility in Johnson City has earned full national accreditation for its crisis helpline, confirming it meets high standards for training and suicide prevention. The center operates the crisis line, mobile crisis teams and a walk-in service that support people in mental health crisis across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Hardee's donates $23k+ to Honor Flight of the Appalachian Highlands (wjhl.com) — In Johnson City, a $23,658 donation from Hardee’s Stars for Heroes will fully fund two Honor Flight of the Appalachian Highlands trips, sending 42 local veterans to Washington, D.C. in 2026. The all-volunteer nonprofit, which has a long waiting list, says this support lets them focus on raising funds for additional flights so more area veterans can experience the memorials.

Data shows higher rate of school readiness among Northeast Tennessee kindergarteners (wcyb.com) — New data on kindergarten readiness across Northeast Tennessee includes insight from a former Johnson City Schools superintendent now helping lead the effort. The screening shows an 11% jump in school-ready kindergarteners, and organizers say parents’ early engagement and better use of data by districts are key to sustaining those gains.

Breeze Airways debuts at Tri-Cities Airport with first non-stop flight to Orlando (wjhl.com) — Johnson City residents now have a new nonstop option to Orlando thanks to Breeze Airways’ debut at Tri-Cities Airport, backed financially by Johnson City and other local governments and businesses. Leaders say the route will boost tourism and business travel, giving locals easier access to both the beach and major international connections through Orlando and Dallas.
