Investigators say phone records and location data tied Miner, a former partner of Johnson, to the targeted attack that also endangered two children in the car.

Arlington Pride 2026 suspended after city council votes not to reinstate LGBTQ+ protections from non-discrimination ordinance (wfaa.com) — Arlington’s 2026 Pride celebration has been suspended after the City Council narrowly voted not to reinstate the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance, which previously protected LGBTQ residents and others. Organizers say they won’t host the popular Levitt Pavilion event until local civil rights protections return, while city leaders remain divided over the ordinance’s future.
   

3. FEC Filings Show Rep. Lauren Boebert Used Campaign Funds for Tickets, Hotel Near Kid Rock Event in Arlington (arlingtonnetwork.com) — Federal filings show Rep. Lauren Boebert’s campaign spent thousands on AT&T Stadium tickets and a stay at Live! by Loews in Arlington’s Entertainment District during a Kid Rock weekend. The expenses, tied to a May 2025 event, raise questions about whether campaign funds were used for personal benefit under federal rules.
   

4. Vatican approves new Carmelite monastery to replace nuns involved in Arlington scandal (catholicvote.org) — A Carmelite monastery in Arlington was formally declared “extinct” by the Vatican after a long dispute with Fort Worth Bishop Michael Olson, and church leaders now plan a replacement monastery near Muenster, Texas. The new Carmel of Jesus Crucified will house several nuns and women discerning religious life, with fundraising underway and local Catholics asked to pray for the new community’s mission.
   

5. 4 North Texas family members convicted in $8.5 million tax refund fraud scheme (wfaa.com) — Arlington residents David, Brandon, and Baylon Hunt were convicted in Fort Worth of joining a family tax refund fraud scheme that sought over $8.5 million and netted more than $1.7 million. Prosecutors say the money funded luxury purchases, and all four defendants now face possible prison time and restitution when they’re sentenced in March 2026.
