Man arrested for deadly shooting along I-20 that killed pregnant woman (wfaa.com) — Arlington police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a deadly November shooting along I-20 that killed pregnant 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson and injured her boyfriend. Investigators say the attack was targeted, involved two children in the back seat who were not seriously hurt, and stemmed from an ongoing feud between Johnson’s ex and her current boyfriend.
   

2. Caroline Vandergriff joins North Central Texas Council of Governments as Spokesperson (blogspot.com) — A new public affairs and communications officer is taking over outreach for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and she has deep ties to Arlington through her grandfather, longtime mayor and regional leader Tom Vandergriff. Caroline Vandergriff, a veteran TV reporter, says she hopes to carry on his legacy of cooperation while shaping how North Texans understand regional issues like transportation, workforce, and public safety.
   

3. BFA Spotlight: Zachary Chapman (uta.edu) — A UTA photography and museum studies student shares how studying at the University of Texas at Arlington and interning with River Legacy Nature Center helped launch his conservation-focused career. He explains how campus courses, local volunteering, and work at the Fort Worth Zoo combined to shape his passion for wildlife, museums, and environmental education, offering encouragement to other creative students.
   

4. Vatican approves new Carmelite monastery to replace nuns involved in Arlington scandal (catholicvote.org) — A Carmelite monastery in Arlington was officially declared extinct by the Vatican after a prolonged dispute with Fort Worth Bishop Michael Olson, and church leaders are now planning a replacement monastery near Muenster. Six nuns and three women discerning religious life are expected to join the new Carmel of Jesus Crucified, with fundraising underway and local Catholics asked to pray for the community’s fresh start.
   

5. For now, Arlington has no anti-discrimination ordinance. What does that mean? (dallasnews.com) — Arlington currently has no active anti-discrimination ordinance after the City Council narrowly voted 5-4 against reinstating protections this week. That means, for now, the city is not processing local discrimination complaints, leaving residents and visitors to rely on more limited federal and state protections while council members consider next steps.
