Almost $1K for a Motel 6 room: North Texas World Cup hotel prices skyrocket (star-telegram.com) — If you’re planning to stay in Arlington during the 2026 World Cup at AT&T Stadium, expect hotel rates to rival your match ticket price. Many Arlington hotels are already sold out, and remaining rooms— from budget motels to luxury stays—are going for several times their usual nightly rates, with some topping $2,000 a night.
   

2. Distressed Arlington office towers edge toward sale (therealdeal.com) — Two well-known office towers on East Copeland Road near Arlington’s Entertainment District are moving closer to a potential sale after years of falling occupancy and sinking values. Copeland Tower and Stadium Place are heavily indebted, less than half vacant in spots, and now expected to be marketed in early 2026, reflecting broader weakness in the Arlington-Mansfield Class B office market.
   

3. Arlington Pride 2026 Suspended After City Council Removes Local Anti-Discrimination Protections (arlingtonnetwork.com) — Arlington’s 2026 Pride celebration has been suspended after a 5–4 City Council vote removed local anti-discrimination protections from the city ordinance, affecting LGBTQ+ residents and other protected groups. Organizers say they can’t ensure safety and inclusion at Levitt Pavilion without those safeguards and plan to keep pressing city leaders to restore the protections, which were changed amid concerns over losing federal grant funding.
   

4. Texas Rep. Veasey ends county judge bid (kentucky.com) — Tarrant County residents may notice a changing political landscape as Rep. Marc Veasey ends his brief bid for county judge to finish his final House term through 2026. The Fort Worth Democrat, previously seen at the National Medal of Honor Museum groundbreaking in Arlington, says he’ll stay in Congress to oppose Donald Trump and MAGA policies in a narrowly divided House.
