Student Dead After Shooting At Lamar High School, Suspect Arrested

ARLINGTON, TX — A boy shot just outside Lamar High School Monday morning has died, Arlington Police told WFAA reporter Tiffany Liou Monday afternoon.

The accused shooter, a juvenile, has been arrested and is being charged with capital murder, Liou wrote in a tweet, adding that other charges may follow.

The shooting was reported at 6:55 a.m. and officers took the suspect into custody shortly after arriving on the scene, authorities said.

Police added that they do not believe the suspect ever entered the school and since school had not yet started for the day, not all students had arrived on campus.

Lamar High School was placed on lockdown as authorities searched the school and secured the scene, police added.

Students were bussed to a reunification center at the Arlington Independent School District Athletics Center at 1001 East Division Street, where guardians were able to begin pickups at 12 p.m., police said.
