According to UTA's Executive Searches website, the Dean of Libraries role requires a visionary, seasoned executive capable of maintaining superior library services that cater to a diverse user base.

The former Dean, Rebecca Bichel, left the post on April 14, 2023, after an impactful 11-year stint, during which she ushered the library into the digital era. Significant expansions like the FabLab and the creation of the Rainbow Room on the Central Library's 3rd floor were achieved under her leadership. Currently, the interim Dean of Libraries is Peter Zhang.

Dean of Social Work

Next on the list is the Dean of Social Work. The position calls for a strategic thinker, committed to academic excellence and capable of managing the School of Social Work while addressing any challenges in the field.

Dr. Scott Ryan, the former Dean, stepped down on May 31, 2023, after nearly 15 years of service. Under Ryan's watch, the School of Social Work flourished to become the largest program of its kind in Texas. His tenure also saw increased external funding and research productivity accolades. As the search for a new dean proceeds, Dr. Debra Woody has taken over as interim dean.

Dean of Education

Lastly, the Dean of Education role is looking for a forward-thinking leader to steer the College of Education. This role requires strategic direction, administrative oversight, and the ability to address upcoming challenges in the education sector.

Teresa Doughty, the last Dean, left a lasting legacy during her six-year term, which ended on March 16, 2023. She is known for initiating a unique program, hiring the first-ever faculty member in education in 2017, and orchestrating online education during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, the position is being held by the interim dean, Dr. Casey Brown, as the university continues its search for a permanent appointee.
