Caught On Tape! Woman Taped Into Her Seat After Bizarre Outburst

More than 4 million TikTok viewers saw video of a woman taped to her seat after trying to open a door in flight from Dallas to Charlotte.

Why did a female passenger try to open a boarding door of a flight in the air from Dallas to Charlotte? Why did she bite a flight attendant? And why was she taped into her seat for the remainder of the trip?

DALLAS, TX —No one yet knows why, but a female passenger had to be taped into her seat on an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Charlotte on July 6.

She had already bitten a flight attendant and tried to open a boarding door while the plane was in mid-flight. The bizarre incident was recorded on video and was shared last week to TikTok by user @lol.ariee. It's been taken down, but not before more than four million viewers saw it.

The video depicts passengers arriving safely in Charlotte, but also shows the restrained woman, taped to her seat, screaming at people as they tried to exit the cabin of the aircraft.

Nexstar was able to get a comment from American Airlines about what took place on the flight:

“While in flight from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Charlotte (CLT) on July 6, the crew on board American Airlines flight 1774 reported a potential security concern after a customer attempted to open the forward boarding door and physically assaulted, bit and caused injury to a flight attendant,” said an airline spokesperson. “For the safety and security of other customers and our crew, the individual was restrained until the flight landed at CLT and could be met by law enforcement and emergency personnel.”

The airline also mentions that fastening the woman to her chair with restraint tape and flex cuffs was not their first choice. The crew acted after attempts to "deescalate" the altercation to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers.

Once the passengers were safely off-boarded, local medics and law enforcement escorted the woman to a nearby hospital for assessment. The airline also says she's now on their no-fly list, and will remain so until their investigation is complete.
